This Backdoor arrives on a system as a file dropped by other malware or as a file downloaded unknowingly by users when visiting malicious sites.

Installation

This Backdoor drops the following copies of itself into the affected system:

  • /lib/libudev.so
  • /usr/bin/{10 Random Characters}
  • /bin/{10 Random Characters}
  • /tmp/{10 Random Characters}

It drops the following files:

  • /var/run/gcc.pid

It executes then deletes itself afterward.

Autostart Technique

This Backdoor drops the following files:

  • /etc/cron.hourly/gcc.sh
  • /etc/rc{1-5}.d/S90{10 Random Characters}
  • /etc/rc.d/rc{1-5}.d/S90{10 Random Characters}
  • /etc/init.d/{10 Random Characters}

Other Details

This Backdoor connects to the following possibly malicious URL:

  • {BLOCKED}.{BLOCKED}.83.172
