This Worm arrives on a system as a file dropped by other malware or as a file downloaded unknowingly by users when visiting malicious sites.

Installation

This Worm drops the following copies of itself into the affected system:

  • {Drive}\twunk_64.aaa
  • %System%\_twunk_64.aaa
  • %System Root%\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\MSInfo\twunk_64.aaa

(Note: %System% is the Windows system folder, where it usually is C:\Windows\System32 on all Windows operating system versions.. %System Root% is the Windows root folder, where it usually is C:\ on all Windows operating system versions.)

It drops the following files:

  • {Drive}\AutoRun.inf
  • %System Root%\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\MSInfo\ReDelBat.bat

(Note: %System Root% is the Windows root folder, where it usually is C:\ on all Windows operating system versions.)

It adds the following processes:

  • %System Root%\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\MSINFO\twunk_64.aaa
  • %System Root%\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\MSINFO\ReDelBat.bat
  • %System%\calc.exe
  • %System Root%\Program Files\internet explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE

Other System Modifications

This Worm deletes the following files:
