This spyware arrives on a system as a file dropped by other malware or as a file downloaded unknowingly by users when visiting malicious sites.

Installation

This spyware drops the following copies of itself into the affected system:

  • %System%\csrcs.exe

(Note: %System% is the Windows system folder, which is usually C:\Windows\System32.)

Other System Modifications

This spyware adds the following registry entries:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\
Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
Windows Player = "%System%\csrcs.exe"

This spyware sends the gathered information via HTTP POST to the following URL:

NOTES:

This malware has the capability to download a hosts file to this URL:

  • http://{BLOCKED}venezuela2.co.cc/priv8/bots.php

After downloading, it will then modify the system's hosts file to redirect users to fake websites of banks or financial institutions

However, as of this writing, the site is already inacessible.
