This spyware is a component DLL that export functions for its mother malware. It exports functions that originates from the legitimate Windows file MSGINA.DLL.

It also exports a function named "WlxLoggedOutSAS" which obtains information from the system. It then logs this information to %System%\drivers\ipv6.sys.

This spyware may be dropped by other malware.

NOTES:

It is a component DLL that export functions for its mother malware.

It exports functions that originates from the legitimate Windows file MSGINA.DLL.

It also exports a function named "WlxLoggedOutSAS" which obtains the following information from the system:

  • Local Time
  • User name
  • Domain
  • Password
  • Old Password

It then logs this information to %System%\drivers\ipv6.sys.

Step 1

For Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 users, before doing any scans, please make sure you disable System Restore to allow full scanning of your computer.

Step 2

Scan your computer with your Trend Micro product and note files detected as TSPY_GINA.AG

Step 3

Restart in Safe Mode
