NOTES:
This is a Trend Micro detection for files with incomplete infection of PE_ZMIST.Ax. Because of the complexity of PE_ZMIST.Ax infection process, some hosts files are left with garbage instructions but without the virus code. Files detected as TROJ_ZMISTx.MOD are benign and nondestructive, and are not able to infect other files.

Step 1

For Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 users, before doing any scans, please make sure you disable System Restore to allow full scanning of your computer.

Step 2

Identify and delete files detected as TROJ_ZMISTx.MOD using either the Startup Disk or Recovery Console
