Arrival Details

This Trojan arrives as an attachment to email messages spammed by other malware/grayware or malicious users.

Installation

This Trojan drops the following copies of itself into the affected system and executes them:

  • %User Temp%\Del7.tmp - deletes the initially executed copy of the malware

(Note: %User Temp% is the current user's Temp folder, which is usually C:\Documents and Settings\{user name}\Local Settings\Temp on Windows 2000, XP, and Server 2003, or C:\Users\{user name}\AppData\Local\Temp on Windows Vista and 7.)

It drops the following file(s)/component(s):

  • {Malware Path}\謹賀新年.jpg
  • %Windows%\Tasks\svchost.exe - detected as BKDR_PROXY.XTQ

(Note: %Windows% is the Windows folder, which is usually C:\Windows.)

NOTES:

After execution, it opens {Malware path}\謹賀新年.jpg, a non-malicious image, to trick affected users into thinking they have opened a normal .JPG file.
