This Trojan arrives on a system as a file dropped by other malware or as a file downloaded unknowingly by users when visiting malicious sites.

Download Routine

This Trojan connects to the following URL(s) to download its configuration file:

  • http://www.{BLOCKED}x.cc/sxindex.html

It saves the files it downloads using the following names:

  • %System Root%\programdata\indem.sys

(Note: %System Root% is the Windows root folder, where it usually is C:\ on all Windows operating system versions.)

As of this writing, the said sites are inaccessible.

Other Details

This Trojan requires the existence of the following files to properly run:

  • %System Root%\programdata\indem.sys (deleted after use)
  • %System Root%\programdata\{filename}.dat (deleted after use)

(Note: %System Root% is the Windows root folder, where it usually is C:\ on all Windows operating system versions.)

NOTES:

If the malware successfully connects to http://www.{BLOCKED}x.cc/{filename}.html, it will read and decrypt the file %System Root%\programdata\{filename}.dat and will create and execute the file %System Root%\programdata\{filename}.exe.

  • Where {filename} depends on the content of the malicious site
  • However the said site are already cleane/doesn’t contain data related to this malware.

It does not have rootkit capabilities.
