This Ransomware arrives on a system as a file dropped by other malware or as a file downloaded unknowingly by users when visiting malicious sites.

Installation

This Ransomware drops and executes the following files:

  • {Malware File Path}\temp.cmd → deleted afterwards

It adds the following processes:

  • "%System%\vssadmin.exe" delete shadows /all /quiet
  • "%System%\reg.exe" add HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows NT\Terminal Services / v MaxDisconnectionTime / t REG_DWORD / d 1209600000 / f
  • cmd /c temp.cmd {Malware File Path}\{Malware File Name} → clear Windows Event Logs
  • for /F \"tokens\*" %1 in ('wevtutil.exe el') DO wevtutil.exe cl \"%1\"

(Note: %System% is the Windows system folder, where it usually is C:\Windows\System32 on all Windows operating system versions.)

Other Details

This Ransomware does the following:

  • If a file to be encrypted is being used by an existing process, it will try to terminate this process.
  • It uses Windows Restart Manager to unlock files it will encrypt.
  • It avoids encrypting read-only volumes.
  • It encrypts files but does not append new extension to encrypted files.
  • It deletes itself after execution.

It accepts the following parameters:
