New Secure Message Regarding Your CIMB Clicks

This spammed message pretends to have come from CIMB Bank, a financial institution in Malaysia. The message informs recipients that there is a new security message which they need to view. The message provides a link to allow the recipients to view the message. However, should they click, the link directs them to a phishing site, which has been blocked by Trend Micro.

Users should be wary of clicking links in emails purporting to be from financial institutions. While it might be tempting to do so, users should note that cybercriminals often spoof financial institutions to fool users into divulging sensitive information. To confirm messages or alerts, it would be more prudent to check out the site by typing in the URL of the company into the address bar of the browser.
