This worm arrives on a system as a file dropped by other malware or as a file downloaded unknowingly by users when visiting malicious sites.
Installation
This worm drops the following copies of itself into the affected system:
- %User Profile%\Application Data\Win8.exe
- %User Startup%\3406813a45cf8bdcd106619234d16e2b.exe
(Note: %User Profile% is the current user's profile folder, which is usually C:\Documents and Settings\{user name} on Windows 2000, XP, and Server 2003, or C:\Users\{user name} on Windows Vista and 7.. %User Startup% is the current user's Startup folder, which is usually C:\Windows\Profiles\{user name}\Start Menu\Programs\Startup on Windows 98 and ME, C:\WINNT\Profiles\{user name}\Start Menu\Programs\Startup on Windows NT, and C:\Documents and Settings\{User name}\Start Menu\Programs\Startup.)

NOTES:
This worm creates shortcut files (.LNK) that use the names of the files located on the removable drives for their file names. It then sets the attributes of the original files to Hidden and System to trick the user into clicking the .LNK files.

Before doing any scans, Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7 users must disable System Restore to allow full scanning of their computers.
Step 2
Note that not all files, folders, and registry keys and entries are installed on your computer during this malware's/spyware's/grayware's execution. This may be due to incomplete installation or other operating system conditions. If you do not find the same files/folders/registry information, please proceed to the next step.

- Open a command prompt.
- For Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Windows Server 2003 users, click Start>Run. In the Search box, type CMD then press Enter.
- For Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows Server 2008 (R2) users, click Start, type CMD in the Search input field then press Enter.
- For Windows 8, Windows 8.1, and Windows Server 2012 (R2) users, right-click on the lower-left corner of the screen, click Command Prompt.
- In the CMD console, type the following:

Example:
To unhide all files and folders (including subfolders) in drive D:

- Repeat Step 3 for folders and files in other drives or folders.
Step 7
Restart in normal mode and scan your computer with your Trend Micro product for files detected as WORM_BLBINDI.XTT. If the detected files have already been cleaned, deleted, or quarantined by your Trend Micro product, no further step is required. You may opt to simply delete the quarantined files.
