This Trojan arrives on a system as a file dropped by other malware or as a file downloaded unknowingly by users when visiting malicious sites.
It may be downloaded from remote site(s) by the following malware:

Installation
This Trojan drops the following files:
- %User Temp%\L{volume ID}- log file containing the following information:
- file path and name of the log file
- system date and time
- OS Version
- OS Architecture (32-bit/64-bit)
- number of drives
- file system
- volume ID
- malware file path and name
- malware file path
- computername
- username
- parent process that runs the malware
- PID of the process that runs the malware
- %User Temp%\tmp{number}.tmp - log file containing the following information:
- volume ID
(Note: %User Temp% is the user's temporary folder, where it usually is C:\Documents and Settings\{user name}\Local Settings\Temp on Windows 2000, Windows Server 2003, and Windows XP (32- and 64-bit); C:\Users\{user name}\AppData\Local\Temp on Windows Vista (32- and 64-bit), Windows 7 (32- and 64-bit), Windows 8 (32- and 64-bit), Windows 8.1 (32- and 64-bit), Windows Server 2008, and Windows Server 2012.)
It adds the following processes:
- iexplore.exe
It adds the following mutexes to ensure that only one of its copies runs at any one time:
- Global\UAC{file system}{random}
- Global\BD{file system}{random}
- Global\INS{file system}{random}
It injects codes into the following process(es):
- added iexplore.exe

This Trojan adds the following registry entries:

Other Details
This Trojan connects to the following website to send and receive information:
- http://{BLOCKED}newbie.co.uk/cgi-bin/001/ldr.cgi
It does the following:
- It may download and execute file from the server
However, as of this writing, the said sites are inaccessible.
NOTES:
This malware sends the content of the following files:
- %User Temp%\tmp{number}.tmp
- %User Temp%\L{volume ID}
SOLUTION

Step 1
Before doing any scans, Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7 users must disable System Restore to allow full scanning of their computers.
Step 2
Remove the malware/grayware file that dropped/downloaded TROJ_ROVNIX.NGT. (Note: Please skip this step if the threat(s) listed below have already been removed.)
Step 3
Scan your computer with your Trend Micro product and note files detected as TROJ_ROVNIX.NGT
Step 4
Restart in Safe Mode
Step 5
Delete this registry value

Restart in normal mode and scan your computer with your Trend Micro product for files detected as TROJ_ROVNIX.NGT.
