CHALLENGES

With a lean IT team, evolving threats, a distributed workforce, and the need to balance security and scalability, keeping the organization safe requires a rigorous approach. Riegsecker’s team must continually stay one step ahead in addressing the growing use of AI tools, which presents another significant challenge.

“Cybersecurity is even more important now to the board because of everything they see in the news,” he says. “The [cyber risk exposure management] module helps to identify blind spots in our environment, especially where assets are highly exposed.”

Deep Discovery Inspector found all of these devices that were plugged into our network that we did not realize were doing this, and it woke us up.

WHY TREND

A longtime Trend customer deployed on Trend Vision One, Fischer Homes recently tested the platform’s out-of-band network detection and response (NDR) solution. “Within the first month, it found devices that were bitcoin mining,” Riegsecker says. “Trend’s NDR solution found all of these devices that were plugged into our network that we did not realize were doing this, and it woke us up. It was a huge, huge win for me.”

The portfolio of advanced services has also played a key factor in partnering with Trend. “With a small team, Trend’s managed XDR services has been an incredible investment that has paid for itself,” adds Riegsecker. “The relentless team spent eight hours on the phone with me to mitigate a scenario that took down other companies.”

CREM helps us get things updated, get things fixed, and proactively find the holes in our network. It’s helped me be more aggressive with my goals.

SOLUTION

As Fischer Homes continues to add new Trend Vision One modules, including Cyber Risk Exposure Management (CREM), they’re able to proactively mitigate risks, enhance security awareness, and empower their employees to navigate the threat landscape efficiently. “XDR speaks for itself,” says Riegsecker. Having visibility into all traffic and receiving timely alerts has been a significant game-changer for Riegsecker, empowering them to effectively manage and improve their risk score. “Trend scans everything and removes threats. We went from 70 to 80 alerts to just 1 or 2.”

Flexibility is also proven to be an added bonus for procurement. “Purchasing via AWS Marketplace has also been very simple for us, giving us more flexibility and helping us to plan our budgets better,” Riegsecker adds.

RESULTS

With Trend, Fischer Homes can confidently pursue their security goals while continuing to grow, as CREM enables the company to synthesize attack surface telemetry for enhanced visibility. “[CREM] helps us get things updated, get things fixed, and proactively find the holes in our environment,” says Riegsecker. “It’s helped me be more aggressive with my goals. I’m constantly looking at it to see what we can tackle next.”

Network Security also provides Fischer Homes with extensive visibility into risk, which allows them to proactively manage potential problems. The comprehensive visibility into network traffic helps the company detect and respond to suspicious activity, while streamlined incident response reduces manual effort and downtime. “The biggest benefit is that I’m not spending hours trying to look at everything,” says Riegsecker. “Trend Micro gives me more time so I can concentrate on other projects.”

WHAT'S NEXT

With the peace of mind provided by Trend, Fischer Homes is confident in tackling their next big challenge; AI ”Our plans for zero trust secure access will help to lock down AI tools to protect company and customer data,” says Riegsecker. “We’re not scared of AI, but we need to make sure we have the right controls.”

In the meantime, Riegsecker continues to educate employees on cybersecurity and is testing managed CREM via Trend Service One.
